The Lego Robotics Field Kit is Here

Posted in Uncategorized by Kurt
Jul 29 2010

We are so ahead of the curve! The field kit came and we will be setting it up next Wednesday at 9:00 am at the Clubhouse at Lakewood Presbyterian Church.

We won’t get the rules for the challenge until September but we can anticipate, imagine, and build ‘bots to navigate the course. This year’s theme is “Body Forward” and participants are supposed to think seriously about BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING to prepare for the competition.

So come on Wednesday – bring a friend – and get ready for robotics season.

In between ping pong, Puppy games Linux, foosball, boffer sword battle games, s’mores, unicyling, and steal-the-bacon, the kids at Friday Fun made these puppet movies.

2nd Annual Earth Day Litter Pick-Up and Reverse Scavenger Hunt

Posted in Uncategorized by Kurt
Apr 17 2010

Last year, 25 Clubhouse members, mentors and staff took some time on Earth Day to pick up litter around Lake City. After collecting about 60 lbs of trash we had fun sharing what treasures we found via a “reverse” scavenger hunt.  Here are the pictures…..

…..and we are going to do it again!

Join us on Thursday, April 22nd, from 3:30 to 5:00 for an amazing journey into litter.  Bring your gloves, enthusiasm, friends, adults,  and sense of humor for a garbage filled adventure.  Donations of snacks will be appreciated.
